9th IBCA World Junior Championships 2015 Podgorica Montenegro

The 9th IBCA World Junior Championships was held at the Aurel hotel in Podgorica from August 19th (arrival) till August 29th (departure) 2015.

Hotel Aurel is situated in Podgorica and offered perfect conditions for the players. Food, rooms and playing hall were excellent. All the rooms were very close to the playing hall. Players and guides could enjoy jacuzzi, sauna and a large fitness room. Staff was always helpful.

Originally this tournament was planned to be held in Argentina, but the Argentinian organizers had to cancel the tournament, because of the financial disaster of the country. IBCA is very thankful to the Union to the Blind of Montenegro and especially their president, for being able to organise this tournament in such short notice.

The tournament:
13 Players from 7 different countries were present at this junior world championship. 9 rounds where played according to the swiss system with time controls of 2 hrs for the first 40 moves and after that 30 minutes for the remaining of the game for each player. The tournament was exciting until the last round. By the start of the last round 2 players (Dimic and Czajkowski) had 7 points and 1 player (Eichstaedt) had 6,5 points. They all won their last round games.

At the opening day of the president of IBCA had a television interview. The interview was at National television, Radio television Montenegro, (Radio televizija Crna Gora z) Present at the interview where Ludwig Beutelhoff (IBCA president), Goran Macanovic (Executive director of the Union of the Blind of Monetengro), Katarina Bigovic (Advisor for international relations, Union of the Blind of Montenegro) and Mirnes Ramovic (participant from Montenegro)
